Costs
What decides website cost for different businesses
Businesses are priced by scope, not by sector. This guide shows what each kind of business usually needs on its website, and which of those items push the cost up.
People search for “website cost for a restaurant” or “website cost for a clinic” hoping for a number. There is no honest single number, because the sector does not set the price: the scope does. Two clinics can need very different sites, and a restaurant and a clinic can need nearly the same one. This note shows what usually drives cost for five kinds of business, so you can describe yours clearly and compare quotes fairly.
I do not quote market prices here. My own packages, as a reference, are on the pricing page: ₹19,999, ₹24,999 and ₹34,999, one-time, excluding applicable taxes.
The same five things drive every quote
Whatever the business, the price moves with:
- How many pages, and whether each has its own useful content.
- How much content you can supply, and how much someone else must write or gather.
- Photography and other media.
- Features that need a backend: bookings, payments, accounts, stock links. Frontend, backend and what your site needs explains why these cost more and carry more responsibility.
- Languages, search work and what happens after launch.
Restaurants and cafes
Usually needs: a menu people can read on a phone, opening hours, a map link, photographs, a phone number and a WhatsApp link for table or order questions.
Pushes cost up: online ordering or table booking (both need a backend or a third-party service), a menu that changes often, professional photography, a second language.
Often fine without: many pages. A restaurant is usually understood in a handful.
Clinics and doctors
Usually needs: each doctor’s profile and qualifications, the treatments offered, location and timings, and a clear way to call or message. Content must be accurate, because health information is held to a higher standard.
Pushes cost up: appointment booking, patient records or logins (privacy and data responsibility), detailed treatment pages that must be checked by the doctor.
Watch for: claims you cannot support. Rules on advertising medical services can apply, and following them is your responsibility, not the developer’s.
Real estate agencies and builders
Usually needs: project and property pages, photographs and floor plans, location information and a fast enquiry route.
Pushes cost up: listings that change often, search filters, a map of properties, and the volume of photographs and documents.
Often decides the price: whether listings are entered by hand or fed from a system. A system feed is backend work.
Manufacturers
Usually needs: category and product pages, specifications, data sheets, applications and a way to request a quotation.
Pushes cost up: the number of products, the number of documents, the work of checking technical content, and any link to stock or ERP systems. The page count, not the sector, usually sets the package. Two live examples are on the Work page, and catalogue websites and manufacturer and exporter sites explain the approach.
Exporters
Usually needs: everything a manufacturer needs, plus clarity on markets served, certifications you can document, and content buyers abroad can read.
Pushes cost up: every additional language, which is a complete set of content that someone must write and check, and any country-specific pages that need their own facts.
How to describe your scope
Before asking anyone for a price, write down:
- the number of products or services,
- what you can supply today (text, photographs, documents),
- which enquiry routes you want (call, WhatsApp, form),
- whether you need bookings, payments or logins,
- which languages,
- whether you want search work now or later.
The note on what to send a developer turns that list into a short brief, and how to read a website quote shows how to compare the answers. What affects the cost of a business website goes further into each factor.
If you send me that list I will say which package it points to, or tell you honestly that part of it is outside the packages and would be quoted separately. Message or call Harman.
